Late Night Shopping Event attracts good crowds to the Town
Wednesday, January 07, 2009
On Thursday 4th December the late night shopping event attracted good crowds of people to the town. Over 50% of the businesses that opened on the night (which was over 40 retailers and cafes ) reported a successful evening and over 63% of the businesses felt that the event brought good crowds to the town.
Local folk were very pleased with the entertainment provided by The Dangleberries, Stewartry Wind Band and Spartan Tartan who all performed to good crowds through the evening. The Firework Dispaly was also a great success and really lite up the cold clear night skies and made for some great reflections on Carlingwark Loch.
Please see images of the event and thanks goes to all the helpers and especially to the Joint sponsors of the Food Town Initiative Event . CD Civic Week, CD Community Initiative, CD Rotary and Dumfries and Galloway Council (Stewartry Committee/Regeneration Group).
We thank Chloe Adams and the Galloway News for the use of these excellent Images of the event.
New Christmas Lights were switched on at the event.

Youngsters enjoy the New Christmas Lights being switched on.

The Dangleberries entertain and keep the crowds warm on Market Hill with their great livley numbers.
S
Spartan Tartan Playing their Jazz Funk in King Street made for a great atmospher in the Town.

The Local Producers market was a success with 12 stalls selling great locally breed and produced products. Including Meats, Smoked Fish and Poultry,Game, Cheeses and Cakes and other confectionery.

The evening finished with a Bang with a wonderful Firework Display at Carlingwark Loch.
