High Street

Castle Douglas is designated Food Town in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway. This 18th-century market town is a prime location for speciality shopping, having around 50 local businesses that sell and produce food and drink and a variety of art, clothing, and goods stores. Castle Douglas has something for everyone, and King Street is well worth an explore for its unique shopping experience.

Our

History

Castle Douglas has a long and interesting history. The town itself begun to take shape as it now exists from 1745 after the land was bough by Willian Douglas. However, people occupied the land by Carlingwark loch for centuries before Castle Douglas existed.
